William Bennett Chief Executive Officer
William Bennett is our founder and CEO. In his capacity as CEO, William is responsible for strategic and managerial oversight. William is also the co-founder and CEO of Energesco Mechanical LLC. William has over 20 years of energy, construction, finance and regulatory experience. Prior to founding Energesco Solutions, William was a senior associate at the international law firm Hogan Lovells US LLP, where he practiced corporate and securities law in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He has served as outside legal counsel to two internationally recognized conservation focused non-profit organizations in the Washington, D.C. area. He currently serves on the board of directors of the ICCF Conservation Council of Nations. William received his BA from Rhodes College, his JD/MBA from the University of South Carolina and his LL.M from Georgetown University Law Center.
James Lang Chief Financial Officer
James Lang is a founder and servers as our Chief Financial Officer. In his capacity as CFO, James is responsible for financial, accounting and IT oversight. James has a track record of success in the small business management arena, including driving the growth and profitability of a division of a company through over 400% growth in three years. He has managed several businesses as an operations/finance manager, several of which he co-founded and guided through start-up phases. He is the former CFO of U.S. Restaurant Properties, a private real estate company focused on the purchase of triple net restaurant parcels. He graduated magna cum laude from Colorado State University with dual BS degrees in Zoology and Biological Sciences, as well as an MS in Operations and Technology Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business.
Steve Hearn Vice President of Energy and Sustainability
Steve Hearn manages Energesco’s Energy and Sustainability Consulting division. Steve is an AEE Certified Energy Manager, RESNET HERS rater and BPI Multifamily analyst with 20 years of experience developing energy conservation and green building projects for thousands of government, commercial and multifamily properties throughout the US. His consulting experience includes using energy auditing, modeling, building commissioning and green building programs to help development teams design and incorporate cost effective energy efficiency projects from pre-design to post-construction. Steve’s efforts involve working directly with key project stakeholders, including owners, developers, investors, architects, engineers, government agencies and others to bring energy efficiency and green building expertise to the design, development and construction teams. More recently, Steve has specialized in working with affordable housing projects in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and he is a recognized leader in this field. Steve has been working directly with the State of Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for over 10 years helping to develop that agency’s nationally recognized energy efficiency programs. His involvement in these programs allows for a deep understanding of program requirements and a high success rate when facilitating ownership and development teams to navigate the funding process. He studied at James Madison University and graduated with a BS degree in Integrated Science and Technology with concentrations in Energy, Environmental Sciences, and Information and Knowledge Management.
Tunde Ukwu, CEM
Tunde Ukwu functions as a Project Manager for Sustainability and Energy Projects. In this capacity, Tunde performs energy and lighting audits of both commercial and multifamily buildings, provides pricing to clients, and manages the materials and labor associated with our large turnkey projects. Additionally, Tunde leads Energesco’s Government Contracting energy services business as well as supporting existing commercial energy projects. Tunde is expert in facility energy management, energy auditing, ECM development, energy master planning and savings analysis. Tunde received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park, and his Masters degree from George Washington University in Sustainable Energy Engineering. Tunde’s goal is to provide expertise in energy engineering and continue to expand the capabilities of Energesco.
Jonathan Pratt Project Manager: Sustainability and Energy Projects
Jonathan Pratt functions as our Project Manager of Sustainability and Energy Projects. In this capacity, Jonathan performs energy and lighting audits of both commercial and multifamily buildings, provides pricing to clients, and manages the materials and labor associated with our large turnkey projects. Additionally, Jonathan is in charge of communicating with our clients, vendors, and local utility companies to ensure that our projects go as efficiently as possible. Jonathan is no stranger to the growing world of energy efficiency technology. He studied methods and implementation of today’s evolving technologies at James Madison University, where he graduated with a BS degree in Integrated Science and Technology with concentrations in Energy, Environmental Sciences, and Engineering. Jonathan’s primary goal is to implement communication, detailed analysis, and project oversight to ensure jobs go effortlessly for Energesco’s clients and customers
John B. Scott, LEED AP Advisory Board
John Scott is a co-founder of Energesco, a former Chief Operating Officer, and currently serves as a member of our Advisory Board. John is also CEO of Scott-Long Construction, one of the most respected construction companies in the Washington, D.C. area, focused on hospitals, private schools, religious institutions, and other selected facilities. Scott-Long has a proven track record of client satisfaction and technical excellence over its 50 year history in the Metropolitan Washington DC area. John’s specific technical expertise is healthcare and religious construction — building in sensitive environments while maintaining the integrity of his client’s vision. He is a regular instructor at the Building on Purpose series for religious construction and teaches classes on infection control for construction in hospitals to various organizations. John received his BS in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University and was the recipient of the Paul N. Sekas Civil Engineering Initiative award. He serves as a member on the following boards: Inova Health System Foundation, County of Fairfax Fire Prevention & Code Appeals, John Marshall Bank Advisory, Young Life Metro DC Region, and the Vestry at The Falls Church.
